Tim Marney, BOARD Chair

Tim has over 30 years’ experience in economics, finance, public policy and administration, health and human services. He served as the Western Australian Under Treasurer for almost a decade, followed by over five years in the role of Mental Health Commissioner of WA.

Tim also served on the Beyond Blue board of Directors from 2008 to 2019, and was Deputy Chair from 2011 to 2019.

He has been a board member of Reconciliation WA, Chair of the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre Advisory Board since 2014 and Chair of the board of Richmond Wellbeing.

Annabel Seow, BOARD Secretary

Annabel is a corporate lawyer who works in the Resources and Energy sector for a range of local and multinational companies, currently Herbert Smith and Freehills.

She believes that a sense of community is integral to breaking down social disadvantage and that we all have a role to play with the time and skills we have. She has previously volunteered with Edmund Rice Camps for Kids, Shelter WA and the Arts Law Centre of Australia.

CRAIG HOLLYWOOD, FOUNDER AND board Director

Craig founded Short Back & Sidewalks in March 2015 after seeing a service delivery gap to the community in need.

While Craig has volunteered at all levels of its operations over these 10 years, he is the visionary that keeps the organisation striving to better serve those in need. He now plays a critical role on the Board through strategic partnerships and fundraising. 

Craig's impact has been recognised nationally when he was awarded Australian of the Year 2022 Western Australia’s Local Hero. He was also a finalist in the RAC WA Volunteer of the Year category of the 2024 WA Volunteer of the Year awards. In October 2024, he was named the Vidal Sassoon ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ at the Australian Hair Industry Awards 2024 . In May 2025, he was awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution: Going above and beyond’ award at the WA Community Services Excellence Awards.

Craig’s full-time role involves working for global infrastructure consultancy AECOM as WA Defence Lead and he recently joined the Board of Volunteering WA.

 

Kate O’Hara, Board Director

Kate is the Chief Executive Officer of Foodbank WA and former Non-Executive Director of Hawaiian property group, Black Swan State Theatre Company, WA Cricket Foundation and Celebrate WA amongst others.

Kate has a wealth of business and leadership experience with a background in strategic marketing, digital strategy, communications and media planning, community creation and place making across a broad range of sectors including property, residential housing, the resource sector, banking and education.

She brings to the Short Back & Sidewalks Board decades of experience in these areas to assist in our Board’s strategic plan and governance program.

 
 

ALISON XAMON, BOARD Director

Alison is the current Mayor of the City of Vincent, a WA inner-city Council, and is a former Member of Parliament, having served as the Parliamentary Leader of the Greens in the WA State Parliament. Amongst her portfolios were homelessness, mental health, disability, and FDV. A lawyer with a background in industrial, equal opportunity and human rights law, Alison has been a passionate social justice and environmental campaigner for over three decades.

Alison has an extensive background in mental health and suicide prevention advocacy, was formerly the President of the WA Association for Mental Health, a Director of Mental Health Australia, the Vice Chair of Community Mental Health Australia, and was the inaugural Co-Chair of the Department of Health Statewide Mental Health Network. 

Alison also served on the Ministerial Council for suicide prevention. She has also run and served on the Boards of numerous not-for-profit organisations and brings extensive experience in community and charitable organisations.

carina viola, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

As CEO Carina brings over 20 years of experience in the social services sector, shaped by her upbringing in Broome and across regional Western Australia. With academic foundations in Psychology and Criminology, Carina has dedicated her career to walking alongside Aboriginal communities in remote areas, learning from their strengths and supporting locally driven solutions.

Her international work includes managing homelessness shelters and designing youth programs in Canada aimed at raising awareness of sexual exploitation and strengthening community resilience. In Australia, Carina has worked across Adult and Youth Justice services before joining Anglicare WA, where she led their North West services for over 11 years.

She is particularly passionate about building strategic partnerships that deliver mutual value, helping corporate and government organisation’s meet their funding and ESG commitments in ways that foster equity and lasting impact to individuals and Australian communities.

Elaine healy, Operations Manager

Elaine is an accomplished professional with over two decades of experience in the not-for-profit sector. Specialising in community engagement, Elaine has dedicated her career to fostering organisational growth and enhancing the effectiveness of not-for-profit initiatives through strategic oversight and compassionate leadership. Her work is characterised by a deep passion for community service and an unwavering dedication to societal improvement.

In addition to her role at Short Back & Sidewalks, Elaine is an active member of the Volunteering WA Research Committee, an advisory group to the CEO and Senior Management of Volunteering WA. She also contributes her expertise to the Volunteer Leadership Group at Volunteering WA, further underscoring her leadership in the field and commitment to advancing the impact of volunteering.
