Short Back & Sidewalks (SBSW) has been supported through a $10,000 donation by Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue), to positively impact the lives of over 600 Australians in need over the course of a year.

The support is part of Fortescue’s 'Great Days' safety initiative, which recognises days where team members have safely completed their shifts without any significant injuries or incidents. Every 'Great Day' has a monetary value that is donated towards a team-chosen charity.

“Short Back & Sidewalks was selected through a poll taken with the site team and our Contractor Powerlines Plus,” said Fortescue Project Director Port, Pipes and Power, Corey Dennis.

“The charity is aligned closely with our value of family, through supporting vulnerable people and communities."

“This resonated with our teams given the importance of caring for the people in the communities that we operate in.”

This support will have an immediate frontline impact on members of the community experiencing homelessness as SBSW moves towards achieving our goal of 15,000 free haircuts a year by 2025.

“What Short Back & Sidewalks provide is much more than a free haircut,” said SBSW Founder and CEO Craig Hollywood.

“It’s an opportunity for some of Australia’s most vulnerable people to be listened to and included.

“We are all part of the conversation and we thank Fortescue for helping us break the stigma attached to members of the community in need, together as one.”
