Former WA Mental Health Commissioner appointed Chair of Short Back & Sidewalks Board

Short Back & Sidewalks (SBSW) is pleased to announce Tim Marney the new Chair of the Board.

Tim brings over 30 years experience in economics, finance, public policy and administration, health and human services.

He served as the Western Australian Under Treasurer for almost a decade, followed by over five years as the WA Mental Health Commissioner. Tim is currently the Chief Economist for the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA.

Tim serves on various boards including Reconciliation WA and Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre Advisory Board, and has previously served on the board of Beyond Blue. He is also the Chair of the Board of Richmond Wellbeing, WA’s largest community mental health support service provider.

"I'm really excited to join as Chair of Short Back & Sidewalks and lead the Board during this important time of growth,” said Tim.

"Throughout my career I've been committed to social impact, and leading the Board of Short Back & Sidewalks means I can extend that impact to the lives of people experiencing homelessness and poverty."

SBSW CEO Craig Hollywood welcomed Tim’s appointment as the organisation embarks on a new era of growth.

“We welcome Tim's vast experience to the Board of Short Back & Sidewalks and we're looking forward to our next chapter of positive impact.”

Tim succeeds outgoing Chair Declan Doherty, who has been in the position since SBSW was founded in 2015.

“I’d like to thank Declan Doherty for the role he has played in our success,” said Craig.

“Declan's diplomacy, adaptability and effective communication ensured the organisation was able to mature and thrive during its formative years.”

Short Back & Sidewalks aim is to give 15,000 free haircuts and positive community connections per year by 2025.
